Trauma Therapist

Christine Ranck, PhD, LCSW, is an EMDR and Brainspotting therapist and psychoanalyst in private practice in New York City.

Christine specializes in working with survivors of profound trauma, as well as in creativity and performance enhancement for professional and non-professional artists and performers.  She earned a PhD from the International University, a Psychoanalytic Certificate from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, a Masters degree in social work from Hunter College and Bachelors degrees from both the University of Rochester and the Eastman School of Music.

For many years she was part of the St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Rape Intervention Program in NYC, providing emergency care and treatment for rape survivors, as well as the volunteer director of Amnesty International East Coast speaker’s bureau.  Since 9/11 Christine has treated hundreds of firefighters, police and survivors of the World Trade Center attack.

Christine is a long-time resident of New York City and was present on Sept 11, 2001 when terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center towers.  Dr. Ranck  donated hundreds of hours of treatment using powerful tools such as EMDR and Brainspotting to help the victims of 9/11 overcome the singular trauma of the event and to rebuild their lives. Chris remains involved in the 9/11 recovery process as part of a select team of volunteers who give daily educational tours of Ground Zero as part of Tribute NYC, a visitor and learning center that opened on the site in 2006.

Using  a variety of methods including Brainspotting (a brain-based rapid-result therapy technique developed by David Grand) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), both highly effective trauma therapies, Christine often saw results with her clients that astounded her.  Adaptations to the process seemed to give them access to creative parts of themselves that had been hidden away because of trauma, but were secretly blocking them from getting what they wanted.  Once fully reconnected with themselves, her clients were literally making transformative quantum leaps whether overcoming deep past trauma or uncovering and unblocking positive creative progress in their lives.

Dr. Ranck is a Brainspotting trainer using her abilities as a scientist, therapist and entertainer to provide a unique and memorable training experience.  Contact Christine to explore bringing a workshop to your local group.

Combining these observations with her study of quantum physics and holographic theory, Christine set about to creatively heighten those results.  Ignite the Genius Within, developed in collaboration with co-author Christopher Nutter, brings this unique process to the general public.

Christine has coupled this best-selling creative-breakthrough book with her 50-minute CD.  The CD introduces state-of-the-art bilateral sound movement for a remarkable creative transformation experience.  Multi-tracked, hand-panned nature sounds and original music achieve a deeper, more natural sound experience which simultaneously enhances relaxation, creativity, and deep-brain processes.

I have been sharing this CD with anyone who will listen…It is helping me study for a licensing exam I must pass by month end…It can facilitate meditation, creativity and studying. This should be required for all students, whether for school or life!
